A Crazy Quilted Pouch to Share and My Garden

What's the thing that just makes your heart leap every time you do it?

For me it is being able to go in to my sewing room
and create a gift to match the love and appreciation in my heart for someone.

I finished this crazy quilted pouch this week for my spiritual mentor from afar ~ Paula White.
This woman's ministry has been the salve during some very difficult times in my life.
The other times I have seen her has been in big venues in NYC with thousands of people but
Fri night and this morning she was at a local church
I knew I'd be able to get this to her quite easily.
I sure hope she likes it!

This is a Vintage Hanky Mini Quilt I made several years ago.
When I put the roses in front of it ~ I noticed they matched the ones on the bottom hanky perfectly!

Teddi and Daisy .......
(who have been known to practically fight to the death over food)

.......  sharing!!!!!

Hear that???? It's the fat lady singing
See that??? The man jumping over the moon!

Awwww ~ the last of the foxglove. If I'm lucky I will get a few blooms in late August.
Check out the bloom on the left ~ I have never seen a foxglove bloom Up like that before ~ have you?

Can't you just see the tiny garden Faeries scrambling into each bloom just before the crack of dawn.

Have a Beautiful Week-end......

Remember how special you are ~ there's NO ONE just like you.
Hold your pretty head Up ~ straighten that back
Feel Proud to be YOU!

Book Reviews

Layered, Tattered & Stitched
by Ruth Rae

I am enjoying this book so much!
It is has clear step by step instructions with lots of great pictures.
Ruth has lessons on tearing, stitching, burning and dying!
She will leave you feeling confidant that you can do any of these projects yourself.

I really enjoyed the Tools and Supplies section in the front.
It always fun to see what other artists are using ~ what brand needles, scissors etc.
My Janome 10000 will forgive her for preferring Bernina Aurora 440 QE.

In the back she offers patterns and 2 pages of beautiful clip art with words and phrases you can copy for your projects.
Visit Ruth Rae's blog " Let The Beauty We Love Be What We Do" for more inspiration!

The Psalms of David
with illuminations by James S. Freemantle

I recently discovered this book on another blogger post and had to order my own copy.
What a story this is.
James Freemantle was born in 1859. In 1906 he married his beloved wife Clara.

About this time ~ he began this illumination of the Psalms.
He was not a religious man but poured all he had into his drawings.
Because the Psalms were such beautiful poems of Love ~ he saw this as a testament to his love of Clara.

He would often spend hours on just a few lines and strokes, sitting by the light of his window.
The book has brilliantly colored flowers, animals, butterflies and cottages.
He died in 1934 ~ the year he finished the book.
Many years later his son published the book.

This may well be the most beautiful book I have ever layed my eyes on.

"The Lord is good,
His Mercy is for ever sure,
His truth at all times firmly stood,
And shall from age to age endure."

I have added  'The Psalms of David" and "Layered,Tattered & Stitched"
to my Amazon link at the top of my blog.
I was able to purchase them at an excellent price via Amazon.

2nd Annual BLOG PARTY to Share Your Creative Space

WELCOME to The Party

It's exciting to know we will be visiting blogs from all over the world ~
being a fly on the wall in that most sacred creative space we all share ~
our studio, sewing room, kitchen table ~ wherever the beauty happens for you!
Be it Big or Small, it's special and it's Ours!
I had big plans to do a redo on mine before the party but it was too nice outside
unfortunately I never found the time.

The mascot of my space is Teddi.
You will see him in almost every picture somewhere ~ the tapestry chair in the photo belonged to Jake
who just passed away this April.
I had a red metal love seat that matched the room much better but replaced it with the chair for Jake so he would be more comfortable and I don't have the heart to change it for now.

The red magazine rack was just $10.00 and holds my most loved books and magazines for inspiration.

Storage Places
Wicker baskets with supplies project ready,
 threads for machine embroidery,
dowel rods glues to a wood block for ribbon,
a red Chanel box filled with vintage pearl buttons,
a closet cubbie with stacks of fabric,
box of thread for crazy quilting,
plastic bin of velvet ribbon from my Aunt Gert's hat making business in Chicago,
silk ribbon stored in a barbers glass,
my 4 favorite trays to use when beading.

What Do I Create ?
Like most of you ~ 90% of what I make I give away.
Most times for me ~ I feel the Lord inspire me to create something for someone and often it
is someone I don't really know. I love that ~ am thankful that He trust me to touch that person.
He has also sent people along the way that have done the same for me ~
Pat Winter has been one of those people.
Her work decorates many areas of my home ~
to the left of my threads above you will see 4 of her beautiful pouches.

SO what do I create?
Crazy Quilting, sewing and machine embroidery are my favorites.
I desperately want to learn soldering ~ I have all the supplies and just can't get the hang of it.

I like mixing machine and hand embroidery.

I made these little purses about 6 years ago.

What started it all 10 years ago ~ my first crazy quilt ~ still not finished!

The most recent things I have made ~
this lavender heart last week for a special couple.......

and this Mini wall quilt 2 weeks ago for my Aunt Shirley.

And here is a sampling of my unfinished crazy quilted items ~

All my work in between is posted somewhere on my blog but you don't have time for that ~
There is a long list of blogs to visit from all over the world so get going!!!!!!

And Thanks for Stopping By!!!!
Love you Lots ~
Come Back Soon!!!
