Spring Has Arrived in Connecticut

"Won't you come into my garden?
I would like my flowers to see you."

This Saturday my garden came alive! Here are some flowers in bloom and their meaning.

Purple Pansy's ~ thoughtfulness and modesty

Phlox ~ flame

 Peony ~ happy life

 Mallows ~ deep in love

 Variegated Hosta ~ unfurling

 Pink tulips ~ caring

Bleeding Hearts ~ worthy of notice

Red Striped Tulips ~ declaration of love
(These remind me of the candy stripe dress my Skippy doll wore, only those of you who grew up in the 60's will get that.)

 Lilly-of-the-Valley ~ sweetness and purity

 Beloved Lilacs ~ first love

 Variegated Shrub

 Trillion ~ ador and zeal

 Jacobs Ladder ~ come down.

Looking up from one of my garden rooms to the garage/front yard.

Sweet Woodruff ~ sweet humility (and an important ingredient for May wine)

The pond blowing bubbles and rejoicing that spring is here!
(And happy that the dead goldfish have been removed)

Forget Me Nots ~ true love, memories and hope

Woodbury, Ct ....Frank's favorite fishing hole

Look carefully and you can see where the water wheel once was.

On the other side of the bridge ~ this quiet scene.

Dogwoods ~ I cling to you and longevity.

The lovely church on the Green in Greenfield Hill.

Take in the excitement of season, put on something bright and do something fun!

Let us dance in the sun, wearing wild flowers in our hair...

If you've never been thrilled to the very edges of your soul by a flower in spring bloom, maybe your soul has never been in bloom.
~ Terri Guillemets

May Wine

If you ever had the pleasure of attending a lunch or tea at Caprilands in Coventry, Ct,  you would have enjoyed this wine with your meal.

Add a half cup of dried sweet wodruff to a bottle of dry white wine.
Seal and store in a dark place, shaking every once in a while for about 1 month.
A few hours before serving, strain wine, then add 6 Tablespoons sugar, shake and chill.
Place in a punch bowel and add a bottle of champagne.
Float strawberrys and fresh fruit on top and Enjoy!
