Fall is in full swing here in Connecticut and brings with it the urge to get as much fun and day tripping as possible in before settling for another cold winter.
We have traveled about an hour north to the state of Mass. four times in the last month.
I thought you might enjoy some of the sites.
Mass, New Hampshire,Connecticut,Vermont and Maine all have beautiful stately houses set up permanently on location.
As you enter each "state" you will find the food and products they are famous for.
All the same laws and taxes that apply in each state apply in each house.
For example in the Vermont house ~ there was NO TAX!!
But it really all comes down to the food!
This Mac and Cheese didn't last long!

There are craftsman and sculptures of butter.......
Entertainers like this guy from the Supremes .....and my own family who can be quite entertaining!

I was hoping to go home with this dreamy glider ~but settled for some yummy Vermont cheese.

You will find Christmas scenes, Koa ponds and tons of candy choices at this wonderful attraction.
Outside everything was decked out for fall.

Next we went about 30 minutes north of Deerfield to Shelburne Falls, Mass.
We found many artisan studios and the breathtaking glacial potholes and waterfalls.
It is a cute little hippy town with friendly people.
No matter which direction you decide to head from your Home Sweet Home ~

I'd like to share this special recipe with you.
My first visit to the Big E over 27 years ago ~ my husband took me there on a date.
It was one of the top 10 day's I have spent with him ~ even to this day.
Our favirote sampling of food was the Finnish Pancakes in the Mass. House.
We took a recipe and after we were married ~ he would often make it on Sat. mornings.
It is like a custard ~ served warm with maple sytup ~ there is nothing finer!
Finnish Pancakes
8 large eggs ,1 cup flour
1 qt fresh milk , 1/4 lb butter
3-4 Tbsp sugar , 1 tsp. salt
1 tsp salt cooking spray
Spray 12' x 16' pan generously with cooking spray, then melt butter in pan. Mis thoroughly with beater: eggs, milk,sugar, salt, and flour. Pour mixture over melted butter. Bake in 450 oven for 20-23 minutes. Serve with Maple Syrup, jelly or butter.
