The New York City Waterfalls Exibit

I wanted to share this wonderful exhibit I went to see in NYC on Sunday. They are a series of waterfalls on the Hudson River that will be in place until Oct. 13th. All the info can be found at this link http://www.nycwaterfalls.org/ These pictures were taken just off South Street Seaport.I love the foggy scene with the Statue of Liberty in the background. I never fail to get a chill when I see her lovely image. What about the stunning Brooklyn Bridge! We had awful thunderstorms but the sky's cleared just in time for our 30 minute boat ride. The last picture was taken at Bryant Park. The building looked like a stunning diamond standing tall as dusk approached.
Love You!

What Are You Doing On The First Day Of Summer?

My son called me on my birthday in March and asked me that question. He had just purchased 2 tickets to see James Taylor at Jones Beach on Long Island, NY ~ on the first day of summer! This was a chance for us to have an adventure like the ones we used to share when he was younger.I booked a room at a nice hotel and planned a whirlwind kind of day!

We took the car on the ferry to Port Jefferson ~ from there this Mom put metal to the petal to make to the next ferry on the other side of Long Island in Patchoug. We took that 25 minute ferry to a glorious paradise of my youth ~ Watch Hill on Fire Island. This part of Fire Island has no cars, one bar/restaurant, state camp grounds, and mile after magical mile of white sand and Atlantic Ocean.

We sat on the outdoor deck of the bar - drinking beer and listening to a live band that just happen to show up as we got there at 2pm. We walked 2 miles on the beach and talked about everything under the sun. My son sees the good in people so conversations are always positive with him. We even found a piece of beach glass! We laughed out of control when this guy who seemed to think he was SO cool walked by us with a big tag hanging from his butt ~ from a discount store.

At 6:45 ~ we got back on the ferry to our car and headed to Jones Beach for the 8:00 concert. WHAT a venue for a concert! It is right in the water! Our seats were AMAZING!!! Right in front! He confesed just how much he had paid for those tickets! Boy was I glad I booked us at a nice hotel!
James Taylor was better and crisper than ever. He sang all his classics plus everything from Broadway tunes to The Dixie Chicks. He sang "Sweet Baby James" ~ a song I used to sing to my brother James when he was little.
We got back to our room after midnight. The next morning we had a great breakfast and hung around Port Jeff until the 1:00 Ferry.
This will go down as one of the top week-ends in my life. Time spent with my preciuos son requires no words ~ we understand each other so well. Thoughts of him bring tears to my eyes. He is my special treasure from God.

Mothers Day Love From Jaci

These arrived at my job this week from my daughter Jaci. I have never seen tulips like these! The periwinkle center and fringed edge is just breathtaking. The dandelion bouquets she gave me as a little girl always had a place of great honor in our home. But WOW ~ this grown up version ain't so bad!!!

My precious son Franky gathered this beautiful beach glass for me the other day. He was working at a home on the Long Island sound ~ located on a large piece of private beach front.
Beach glass has always been as exciting to me as I guess diamonds are to most girls. It is the purest form of nature taking something not so nice (litter) and turning into a thing of beauty. I am fascinated by it.
When I began blogging and "met" Pat Winter (http://gatherings100.blogspot.com/) ~ I was reminded of this love of mine through her blog. She makes frequent visits to the beach with her Mom ~ and often gets a loving "wink" from her Dad by way of the blue beach glass that she finds.
As I studied each piece ~ I couldn't get Pat off my mind. Suddenly ~ what did I see but the name PAT clear as day ~ across one of the pearly white beauty's! Do you see it in the middle photo!?!
....... These are the moments that make life so rich. Beautiful sea glass hand picked by my son ~ the name of someone so dear to me randomly etched in it.

The President Gets Lucky!

My friend Brenda has worked tirelessly not only for the Republican party but for all things that she believes in. She has a long list of achievments and has a special passion for helping to improve her local school system.
After a long day of volunteer work she did at a recent event President Bush was attending ~ he chose her pretty face to pose with. I say he was one lucky guy!

Happy Mother's Day To My Mom :)

Happy Mother's Day Mom!
I still filled the house with Lilac's and Pansy's for you ~ even though you couldn't come to visit this year!
It has that sweet familiar smell that reminds me of you. This was the first year I was able to pick them from my own yard instead of driving to all kinds of strange locations to "borrow a few blooms." I was reminded of the year I got so excited about a lilac bush on the side of the road ~ I forgot to put the car in park when I jumped out of the car ~ it rolled back and smashed into the car parked across the street!
Any amount of effort was worth your delight when you walked in the house from your long flight to the sweet smell of Lilacs everywhere!
I am missing you this week Mom ~ next year we will make up for it!

If He Cares for the Sparrow ~ How Much More Will He Care For You?

Early Fri. morning ~ I heard a huge THUMP on my bedroom window. I looked out and saw nothing. When I went downstairs to let my dogs out ~ I saw a lifeless baby bird lying on my deck. It was pouring rain and he was soaked. I wrapped him in paper towels and held him in my hands ~ asking God to put life back in his body. When he appeared dry ~ I placed him in a dry paper towel in a cup on my deck table. I went in to get breakfast and when I went to check back on him ~ his eyes were starting to open. As I prayed ~ he began to "wake up" ! I went out to take his picture ~ just after this shot ~ he flew off to a tree on the far side of my yard!

Matt. 6 : 25, 26 ~ Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life.........Look at the birds in the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not more valuable than they?
